There are a number of types of blinds that can be purchased, the types are shown below.

Blinds are generally used in offices and homes to provide either shade or privacy or a combination of both.

One of the main attractions of blinds is that the amount of light they let in can be controlled
by opening and closing the blinds to varying degrees.

However, the effect of the blinds on light, privacy and the look of a the room
is dependant on the type of blinds you choose.

Venetian Blinds

Perhaps the most well known and most popular type of blind, Venetian blinds have horizontal strips
and are generally made of wood or aluminium, they can be adjusted to control the amount
of light allowed through to the room.

This type of blind is so well loved because they offer a clean, uncluttered look and it is possible
to choose a style that will compliment the look of your room. There are many options
from a dark wood through to a striking metallic blind.

Vertical Blinds

Verticle blinds have panels running from the ceiling down to any desired height. They can be adjusted
to allow the required amount of light into the room. Typically these blinds can also be
drawn to one side of the covered area to allow all the light to enter. This allows for much more
flexibility. The vertical blinds are available in different widths and drops, they are
a popular choice for full-length windows, conservatories and patios doors.

Many people use vertical blinds to control the amount of light that enters a conservatory
or sunroom in order to protect the furniture from the damaging sunlight.
Vertical blinds also come in a range of colours, textures and patterns and many
of them are machine washable

Roller Blinds

This style of blind is made from an opaque fabric or vinyl that is wrapped around
a dowel, this dowel can be rotated using a cord system that lifts and lowers the blind.

Roller blinds are particularaly popular in rooms where you might want complete privacy
such as a bathroom or a bedroom as there are no slits in this blind style.

This blind offers a simple, practical yet stylish option as roller blinds are available
in many colours and styles such as straight, shaped or decorative hems.

Roman Blinds

These are designed with a cord woven through the fabric that allows ou to raise or lower the shade
in a stylish pattern. The Roman Blinds are available in many different colours and fabrics, such
as most ranges of curtain fabrics and styles. This is possible due to the mechanics of the
Roman Blind which is a wooden batten covered with fabric, joined by cords and cleats.
